CHEM 418 Nuclear Chemistry, Winter 2018: Lecture 0 Online presentation methods

Using the online lecture format is presented. The lectures are available as notes without audio or animation, PowerPoint audio and animation, and MP4 video. Please review the MP4 format, as it has the smallest file size and is preferred if suitable. The use of multiple formats should permit viewing of lectures on a host of platforms.  The MP4 format can be viewed with audio in Canvas.  The PowerPoint audio can be viewed after downloading. The lecture is 4 minutes.
The lecture is assigned on Wednesday 3 January and due Thursday 4 January.

  1. Reviewed Lecture 0 and I think I submitted PDF quiz 0. The digital signature was not working. It showed your name in a yellow box when I tried to sign, but I clicked on the submit button anyways.

    2. I'm not sure how to submit the quiz. When I go to quizzes and click 'PDF quiz 0' there is a submit button. However, when I try to click on the 'PDF quiz 0' attachment, it takes me to a page not found. When I go to files and click "PDF quiz 0' I can download it and edited it. However, the 'submit form' button at the top of the PDF appears to do nothing.

  2. I went over the Lecture 0 files and completed and emailed the quiz. The submit and signature functions didn't seem to want to work at the moment(I will be going back to see if I can get it to work).

    1. Ali, the PDF quiz was submitted via Canvas. If you are interested in molten salt reactors we are working on one at TerraPower. I am involved in synthesis and characterization of the uranium chlorides.

  6. I emailed you my quiz. Was there supposed to be audio for this lecture? I was confused because I looked at lecture 1 and everything was working fine but lecture 0 had no sounds at all.

    2. yes, I had an issue with this MP4. It had to do with how I recorded it. The other MP4 lectures do not have a problem. I am working on fixing the lecture 0 mp4.

  24. Didn't know I had to use adobe for the quiz so it took a minute. Got it all done. Also, I literally could not post on this blog no matter what I tried using Google Chrome as my browser. Had to use Firefox. Everything finally works though.

  25. I the PDF file looked weird and didn't work well when I opened it on my computer, but I have a really old macbook. So I took a screen shot of the PDF and emailed it to you. The sound in the powerpoint worked for me but not the sound in the mp4. The signature pad also did not work on my computer.
